New CAPs and CCSTs!
Qualifying for and passing one of ISA’s certification exams is a noteworthy accomplishment. The exams are rigorous and require a solid command of various disciplines in automation and control. Below is a list of individuals who have recently passed either our Certified Automation Professional (CAP) or one of the three levels of our Certified Control System Technician (CCST) exam. Covey worked for Union Carbide Nuclear Corporation to organize and manage a training program for instrument technicians for the K-25 plant for the Manhattan Project. Following four years at Taylor Instrument Company editing a new house magazine and conducting customer training classes, Covey returned to the Manhattan Project as head of the instrument engineering department at the gaseous diffusion plant. Later Covey joined with Charles Bussmann to found Compass Publications, Inc., where he worked for 37 years in various capacities. At the end of his career, Covey worked for the National Ocean Service at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Covey was president of the Oak Ridge and Paducah ISA local sections. He was also a member of the national executive board and chairman of the national publications committee, and was selected a senior member and an ISA Fellow. In 1954, he became a full-time employee in Pittsburgh, Pa., to organize staff for the new ISA Journal—editorial, production, circulation, advertising sales, and marketing. Covey received the Jessie H. Neil Editorial Achievement Award for editorial excellence.
