CCST question

All automation measurements include some measurement error; the estimate of this measurement error is called:

A. measurement uncertainty
B. measurement consistency
C. measurement correlation
D. measurement sensitivity

CCST Answer

The correct answer is A, “ measurement uncertainty.” For automation measurements to be useful as a source of data, measurement errors must be small in comparison to the magnitude of the process value or changes under measurement or control. Measurement errors at any one time are typically unknown, but the limits of the error may be estimated with statistical confidence. This estimate of error is called measurement uncertainty.
