Summary
Safety instrumented systems
The R4.03.00 release has an improved engineering function for configuring fire and gas systems (FGS) and operation faceplates for FGS operation and monitoring screens. The ProSafe-RS safety instrumented system can be integrated with the CENTUM VP integrated production control system. Enhancements include software components (function blocks) that define the operations and functions to be performed when smoke, heat, or gas is detected and a network I/O device with channels that software can configure to handle either analog or digital signals. The system is now also compatible with the ring topology, where devices are connected to each other in the shape of a ring.
The device has a higher security level due to the engineering station's software security functions and changes to the Windows security settings. This latest release also supports a Windows function for centralized management of security settings. With this feature, users can apply the same security settings to multiple monitoring and operation PCs.

Wireless foot switches
The industrial-grade wireless foot switches have an internal energy generator, so no battery is required. Actuation of the foot pedal generates power to send a unique, coded telegram to a compatible receiver. If the foot switch does not receive a confirmation signal from the receiver within 15 ms, it transmits a second telegram.
The switches are available for operation at 915 MHz (U.S./Canada/Australia) or 868 MHz (Europe) and have a maximum nominal transmission range of 50 m indoors or 700 m in "free air." They also have a metal protection shield, bidirectional communications with the receiver confirming receipt of the transmitted signal, an ingress protection rating of IP67, mechanical life expectancy of greater than 1 million actuations, and an operating temperature range of -20°C to + 65°C. The foot switch contact format is configurable, depending upon the receiver model selected. The switches have the following certifications: FCC\, IC (for SW915 MHz models), and EC (for 868 MHz models).

Absence-of-voltage tester
The patent-pending VeriSafe absence-of-voltage tester simplifies the voltage verification process through automation, reducing workers' risk of exposure to electrical hazards by verifying the absence of voltage before equipment is accessed. Qualified electrical workers can determine an electrically safe environment in a fraction of the time required when using handheld portable test instruments. Once installed, a push of a button lets them see an active visual indication when the absence of voltage is confirmed.

RFID safety switches
The LPF and SPF-series radio frequency identification (RFID) noncontact coded safety switches use RFID communication between the switch and the actuator for tamper-proof protection using both master- and unique-coded actuators. When used in combination with a dual-channel safety relay, RFID-coded noncontact safety switches can be used to provide protection up to Category 4 and PLe to ISO 13849-1.
The IP69K-rated LPF and SPF-series operate with most safety relays. They have plastic housings, wide sensing distances (greater than 10 mm), and a high tolerance to misalignment after sensing. With switching capability up to 0.2 A, models are available in unique-coded and master-coded styles with 2-m, 5-m, or 10-m pigtail cables or a 250-mm quick-disconnect cable.
Female quick-disconnect cables, in 5-m and 10-m lengths, and replacement master-coded actuators are also available.
