The International Society of Automation (ISA) – the leading professional society for automation – announced that Edward Manns joined staff as the new Managing Director, External Affairs. The position places Manns to oversee corporate engagement and advocacy activities for the Society.
Manns has 30 years of results-oriented leadership in association management in standards, marketing/PR, sales, publishing, events, education/professional development, product qualification, database management, and consortia management. He has held positions at the SAE International (formerly the Society of Automotive Engineers), the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), and the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP).
“Ed Manns brings significant depth of expertise to ISA across many functional areas. Because he has held leadership positions at a number of different standards developing organizations (SDOs), trade associations, and professional societies, he understands how to position ISA for maximum impact and growth with public- and private-sector stakeholders,” said Claire Fallon, Executive Director of ISA. “He undoubtedly will have a tremendous impact on ISA.”
Manns has also served as a leader in the standardization community, with multiple terms on the Board of Directors of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). He has an undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering and holds a master’s degree in marketing.
