New ISA99 Working Group on Workforce Security Competencies and Models
The widely used ISA/IEC 62443 Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) Security standards, developed primarily by the ISA99 standards development committee with simultaneous review and adoption by the International Electrotechnical Commission/TC65 Working Group 10, provide a flexible framework to address and mitigate current and future IACS security vulnerabilities.
A newly established working group will extend the work of ISA99 by identifying, defining, and describing the competencies required of a specialized IACS cybersecurity workforce across primary (organizational) roles and professional (personnel) roles during all IACS security lifecycle phases. The working group will draft documents specifying competencies and training necessary for a workforce to reliably and safely design, develop, operate, maintain, and decommission IACS security technology and security management programs as defined in the ISA/IEC 62443 series.
Control Centers Standards Committee Reactivates
ISA60, Control Centers, is seeking new members as it reactivates under the leadership of cochairs Donald Dunn and Ian Nimmo. The committee will work on writing and updating a series of recommended practices on topics that could include terminology, human engineering, seismic and other vibrations, modular construction, documentation and division of responsibilities, profiles, fabrication and finish, electrical wiring and sizing, graphic displays, inspection and testing, and more. For information, contact ISA Standards.
ISA Standards: New Projects and Public Review
As part of its accreditation by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), ISA must submit two types of official forms to ANSI to announce (a) the start of a standards project and (b) the public review of a draft standard in development. Please see ANSI Project Initiation or ANSI Public Review for the latest announcements of each and instructions on how to participate.
